People using only pharmaceutical blood pressure medications saw the same drop in blood pressure as those consuming sesame oil, but no change in cholesterol levels. Researchers concluded that sesame oil has added benefits medications do not. The results were presented at the American Heart Association’s High Blood Pressure Research 2012 Scientific Sessions.

Vitamin K

Sesame oil also contains vitamin K, which is essential for good bone health. One tablespoon of sesame oil supplies 1.4 micrograms of vitamin K, or 2 percent of the recommended daily intake. Vitamin K is used in the body for blood clotting and the formation of protein in bones, muscles and kidneys. If you take anticoagulant or blood-thinning medications, you should talk to your doctor before using sesame oil.
